Amazing Grace Day 1: Creating to glorify God, not to be gloried
Transforming our creativity by creating for God, and not for chasing metrics
I’m trying something this new year as a Catholic content creator.
I’m giving up my usual fear-based and wretched content creation process of creating, then sharing, then checking (and rechecking) my metrics.
Instead, I’m putting my best work out there with the assumption that no one will see, like, share, or praise my efforts in any way.
Even if it’s painful, I have to ask myself, “Would I still offer my best work to proclaim my Catholic faith, even if only God knows and sees my contributions?”
As I’ve tried this mindset for the past month, I’ve noticed how in creating for God, and for Him alone, I feel so much more peaceful in my workflow. I make more room for joy now that I’m creating for His eyes only.
The years of frantically putting out work ultimately for the sake of stats and marketing reach, has been so draining for my mental health, self-esteem, and encouragement to continue as a Catholic coach and content creator.
This new way feels better, more spacious.
How consoling to freely prepare, draft, and share my writings-from-the-heart without conditions or expectations.
How relieving to write for no other reason than to be spiritually creative and to cooperate with the Holy Spirit.
How different the creative process feels, when I express my passion as a Catholic coach, not to impress, but just to be honest.
I invite you to practice the same permission and freedom for yourself, my fellow Catholic creatives.
Let’s discern and consider:
What would happen if I created and published content only for God’s eyes?
Without measuring or worrying about metrics, how would my productivity and goals as a Catholic content creator change?
Stay tuned for more Amazing Grace reflections throughout the week.
