Here I am Lord. It is I Lord.

Encouragement to help us wake up, rise up, and respond openly to God’s calling like Samuel

Today, my graceful sister, I’m praying specially for the persistent callings in your heart - that nudge that keeps returning, the revisiting signs you just know are from the Holy Spirit, that curiosity you can’t ever shake, that prompting you keep hearing in your soul - over and over.

I believe that God calls on us everyday, to be more like, and walk closer towards the new person He summons us to be, so we can serve Him and His kingdom more fully according to His great purpose.

Often we ignore the knock though, we deny the whisper, we reject the tapping.

In our hubris, we hard-heartedly insist we’ve figured out a better, safer, and more comfortable way - the right way which fits what we want, even if it’s not what He wills.

We defiantly raise our hand to Him rejectingly, “Yup, I got it from here, God. Thanks, but no thanks.”

So then we go on for years (years!) brushing Him off, keeping our head hidden under the pillow, pretending we don’t hear him calling in the night, saying our name... again and again and again.

Why do we keep turning away from Him and his ever-patient, ever-forgiving efforts to invite us back on His path?

Why do we stubbornly block the door He so trustingly opens for us?

Sisters, instead of staying resistant and dumbfounded in our sleep, let’s pray along with the first reading today, so the next time we hear the Lord calling us, we actually awaken and arise!

It’s time... it's time to break away from the fog and weight of our numb slumber.

I'm tired. I want to stop fighting Him, I want to finally surrender to His recurring, peaceful voice calling my name.

I know you do too, sister.

May we like Samuel, attentively respond to God with words of attunement, obedience, and openness:

“Here I am. You called me. Speak, Lord your servant is listening.”

🙏🏼 Before you go sister, I’d love to hear... what calling do you keep pushing away, that God in His unwavering love and mercy, keeps re-instilling in you?
