Road to Damascus: Converting with St. Paul Day 3
Admitting my denial about my Catholic faith on social media and in my coaching practice
“For we cannot do anything against the truth, but only for the truth.” 2 Corinthians 13:8
Do you filter your faith from your personal and business brand on social media?
Do you hide that you’re Catholic from your business dealings and business marketing?
I too, used to struggle with separating (and at times, even denying!) the depth of my faithfulness in my business circles.
I didn’t want to be “inappropriate” or “insensitive” or “exclusive” about featuring my faith so prominently in my business offerings.
So I used to hide my faith from my public and business persona, on purpose.
When I started as a health and wellness coach back in 2016, I feared that declaring my Catholic faith would push away potential clients and collaboration opportunities.
So for many years, I masked my Catholic faith in my coaching endeavors.
I kept my prayerful life and my love for spiritual growth hidden and separated from my coaching life.
As with all things, the truth will always catch up to us, and it will hurt.
Truth hurts most of all when we deny the truth about our faith.
That's why Jesus reminds us:
“If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” John 8:31-32
After hiding in secular coaching like this for years, I could no longer sustain this half-version of myself.
I had to finally admit, the darkness in dismissing the truth about what my faith meant to me and more importantly, what God was truly calling me to do with my coaching practice.
Tomorrow, for Day 4 of our series, I’ll open up about what sparked the beginning of my conversion to accept and declare myself as a Catholic coach.
