Soul-Care for Catholic Content Creators

A spiritual home retreat guide to help Catholic creatives go from burnout to restoration

THE MOST POWERFUL HEALING PRAYER by PADRE PIO

Heavenly Father, I thank You for loving me. I thank You for sending Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, to the world to save and to set me free. I trust in Your power and grace that sustain and restore me.

Loving Father, touch me now with Your healing hands, for I believe that Your will is for me to be well in mind, body, soul and spirit. Cover me with the Most Precious Blood of Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, from the top of my head to the soles of my feet.

Cast out anything that should not be in me. Root out any unhealthy and abnormal cells. Open any blocked arteries or veins and rebuild and replenish any damaged areas. Remove all inflammation and cleanse any infection by the power of Jesus’ Precious Blood.

Let the fire of Your healing love pass through my entire body to heal and make new any diseased areas so that my body will function the way You created it to function.

Touch also my mind and my emotion, even the deepest recesses of my heart. Saturate my entire being with Your presence, love, joy, and peace and draw me ever closer to You every moment of my life.

And Father, fill me with Your Holy Spirit and empower me to do Your works so that my life will bring glory and honor to Your Holy Name. I ask this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

“Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved, for you are my praise.” Jeremiah 17:14

Soul-care check-in

Are you a Catholic creative feeling worn out in your mind, body, and spirit?

Wish you had some spiritual nourishment to revive your soul-care and creative inspirations?

Do you long for replenishment, but your content creation commitments prevent you from going on vacation for true rest?

This home-based, soul-care retreat guide was created for faithful though depleted Catholic content creators just like you and me.

We’re all struggling with burnout, exhaustion, and overwhelm - the kind of tiredness that aches all the way deep to our bones and spirit.

In this post, you'll learn 7 simple and spiritual ways to feel more rested and renewed as a Christ-led creative, right at home.

Let's turn away from our fast-paced, high-pressured, super-competitive, tech-addicted, task-driven, and full-scheduled daily life as Catholic content creators.

Instead, let’s shift our focus now on graceful healing, spiritual wholeness, and restorative soul-care through Christ.

Because even the prayerful and creative get weary too.

Getting started

This soul-care wellness guide is best to use over a period of one week.

For a gentle and easy start, begin your home retreat on a day when you feel specially open to spiritual self-care, then practice one wellness tip every day for seven days.

Signs that you’re longing for soul-care

Does this sound like you?

✓ I feel overwhelmed from my never-ending content creation to do list.

✓ I no longer feel inspired or find joy in being creative.

✓ I feel exhausted trying to keep up with (or even outdo!) my metrics from my last post.

✓ I can tell I’ve overextended myself - like I'm running on fumes.

✓ I feel discouraged and ineffective in carrying out my creative and business ideas.

✓ I feel available to my followers, customers, and clients, but detached and disconnected from people I love in my personal life.

✓ I feel resentful because I feel like I can’t take a break - the online business industry and social media space is too competitive for me to rest!

✓ I don’t believe my faith can fully restore my mental health struggles as a public figure and entrepreneur.

✓ After continuous days of content creation, I struggle with energy crashes, brain fog, and fatigue.

✓ My creative business and entrepreneurial goals demand all my focus and priority.

✓ I put my content creation responsibilities above my faith and relationships.

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

Seven steps to soul-care wellness

  1. Start with your spirit. Set aside time today for silence, prayer, and contemplation. Look at your calendar and reserve your schedule to attend Mass, go to Adoration, and meet with a priest for Confession. Recite the rosary and find solace in Mother Mary's gentle heart. Seek the protection and guidance of your Guardian Angel. Humbly pray for Jesus Christ, our Divine Healer to help restore you. Note: It’s important to do all this spiritual practice alone, but also with your loved ones.

  2. Time to tidy. Your environment affects the state of your soul and creative clarity. Find the most stressful area in your content creation workspace and declutter. Focus on the parts that annoy or stress you out the most. You'll find that tidiness could refresh not just your creative space, but also uplift your spirit from deep within.

  3. Restore with whole foods. Turn to nourishing food to make you feel better. Eat fresh, seasonal, and organic foods that are local to your area. Pay attention to what your body needs nutritionally, especially on those long, arduous days when you’re heads down creating long-from content.

  4. Take in nature. Implement natural elements inside your home to help you feel more calm and connected with nature. Open windows and let in plenty of natural light. Place live flowers and plants in your most used rooms. Use essential oils to rejuvenate your immune system and mental acuity.

  5. Prioritize restful sleep. Wash linens and air out your mattress. Reposition your bed in a better alignment - a position that feels better to you. Create a restful and calm sleep environment with soothing lighting and calming music. Go to bed 30 minutes earlier than usual. Most importantly, put your phone out of reach - I know, I know! This seems impossible for us as content creators, but it’s really helpful, specially when you’re just so burned out from looking at screens all day!

  6. Tech detox. Even as content creators, we too need to audit our content consumption. Start by removing negative and toxic content from your media feed. Unfollow and unsubscribe to any content (on social media, entertainment, your email subscriptions, or the news) that makes you feel anxious, discouraged, insecure, or over-excited. Rest and recuperation for your frazzled nervous system begins here.

  7. Connection and community. You're not meant to be alone. Reach out to other Catholics - or even better, join Catholic content creator communities for comfort and support with other like-minded faithful creatives. Find a community where you can talk, share, laugh, feel heard, be understood, and most importantly, pray together. Especially during times of stress, burnout, and restlessness, you need fellowship and friendship the most.

Final thoughts

With an intentional spiritual self-care practice and through the peace of Christ, rest and renewal is possible for your creative and sensitive soul.

Ask yourself...

  • What do I need to feel more rested and refreshed from the demands of being an overwhelmed Catholic content creator?

  • What does my spirit truly seek to feel restored in my soul so I can do God’s work with more peace, restfulness, and clarity?

  • How would my work and offerings transform if I could practice more spiritual self-care?
